Wonderland By Night - Greatest Hits / 1958-1962

German pianist, orchestra leader, arranger, composer and producer Bert Kaempfert registered a surprise No. 1 in the United States in January 1961 with 'Wonderland By Night', which sold several million copies and broke him as an international artist. He went on to sell millions of Orchestral MOR and Easy-Listening-Jazz albums during the 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as writing a string of hit songs. There are many collections of Kaempfert's early LPs available, but this compilation presents the very best of his 45rpm releases between 1958-62 and features a number of non-album singles, many of which were successful in Germany, the US, and The Netherlands. These include sides like 'Mitternachts-Blues', 'Cerveza', 'Morgen', 'Tenderly', 'Now And Forever', 'Afrikaan Beat', 'Echo In The Night', 'That Happy Feeling' and 'A Swingin' Safari'. Although he wasn't destined to enjoy hit records in the U. K. until the mid-60s, these tunes are all instantly recognisable.
