Tommy Steele
Before he leaves for Merchant Navy training young Tommy Steele scrapes together enough to buy a guitar. But once he joins up he falls foul of a Chief Steward and is told to make a choice between a career at sea or in music. Music wins. Soon after arriving in London's Soho he is taken on to entertain customers in a coffee bar. He never looks back...
