Seki Takakazu is a Japanese mathematician in an early period of the Edo era, known as the first person to study the so-called 'determinant' in the world. He died on 24 October 5, which corresponds to 5 December 1708 in the current solar calendar, and we celebrate his 300th posthumous anniversary this year.
