Urease from Pumpkin Seeds Used for the Detection of Hazardous Metals: Urease Purification, Characterization and Its Application
Om Prakash
This work mainly highlights the novel source of urease enzyme and its application. Urease was obtained from the vegetable wastes i.e., pumpkin seeds and was purified and characterized and further immobilized in calcium alginate beads. The alginate immobilized enzyme was used for the detection of hazardous metals in aqueous solutions. This immobilized urease was also used for the blood urea estimation which compared favourably with those obtained by Autoanalyzer used in clinical pathology laboratory.
