Parenting Styles and Peer Group Influence on Juvenile Delinquents: a Study of Borstal Institutions in Nigeria
Olufemi Fawole
Juvenile delinquency has become a serious social problem in the Nigerian society. Today, adolescents in secondary schools perpetuate crime with impunity and school authorities seem to be handicapped in their capacity to contain, curtail and curb this misdemeanor. Disciplinary measures seem to have lost their worth and are often incapable of reversing the bad trend. Significantly, it has been noted to even reinforce such behaviors in some instances. This book therefore examines parenting styles and the influence of peer group on juvenile delinquents in borstal institutions in Nigeria.
