Human Security has developed as a challenging concept against the traditional security understanding in the last two decades. The author tries to merge this newly developed security field within one of the most important powers of the contemporary world, the European Union (EU). In this context, while the work introduces the human security concept and its relation with the EU considering the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP), the EULEX Kosovo mission is coming to the forth as an area which human security is being discussed in practical terms. In this part of the work, six principles of human security are scrutinized. Furthermore, a short discussion about the transatlantic relations with a comparison of ESDP to US National Security Strategy and the future possibilities about these relations after Obama presidency are being evaluated. According to all these discussions, the main objective of the work is emphasizing the importance of human security and contributing this concept in rhetorical terms as well as asking questions about its practice.
