Recent years have witnessed increasing resistance of Staphylococcus aureus to many antimicrobial agents. Most notable example is emergence of Methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which was reported just one year after the launch of methicillin. The ecological niches of S. aureus strains are anterior nares. Identification of Staphylococcus aureus with proper antibiogram and detection of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus greatly contribute towards the effective treatment of patients.
