Informal Microfinance and Economic Activities in Nigeria: a Case Study of Rural Areas in Kwara State South Senatorial District

ABOUT THE BOOK Rural areas have increasing demand for credit because such credit reduces the impact of seasonality on incomes. However, formal financial institutions have maintained low presence in the rural areas. This has affected the rural dwellers? access to deposit savings and credits that can improve their economic activities. By the same token, there has been a dearth of studies on the impact of informal microfinance on economic activities in rural areas of Nigeria. This book therefore examined the different types of informal microfinance existing in the selected rural areas and the effects of the informal microfinance on the economic activities of the rural dwellers in Kwara State South Senatorial District, Nigeria.
