A Comparative Dictionary of Indian Austroasiatic Languages
Manzur Ejaz
This is a dictionary in which words from Indian Austroasiatic languages, Santhali, Munda and Khasi are match with Punjabi vocabulary. The main purpose of this project is to see if Punjabi is a member of Austroasiatic family of languages or the prevailing view holds according to which it is either in Indo-European or Dravidian groups of languages. Romani words (the language of European Gypsies who migrated from Punjab between 6th and 11th centuries) are also included to see the old forms of Punjabi words. This dictionary should provide an opportunity to linguistic scholars and other researchers to adjust their theoretical framework. This is an ongoing project and revised versions of this dictionary will be presented in the near future.
