Jake the Private Dick In Murder and Mayhem Volume 2

The moon was blue, large, and full and hung low over the New Orleans skyline. The lights from the French Quarter flickered brightly, inviting anyone in to play; danger was in the air, and Jake (JPD) could smell it coming. Now that the serial killer was caught, and Amy Thornton was locked up in a mental institution, the French Quarter was slowly getting back to normal. The strobe lights from the new club, the Shade-Tree, was sliding across the star-studded sky announcing the grand opening, and Patrice Lawson and her partner, Frankie Morales, were proud owners. They were in their office to meet one of the new dancers; his name was Rae Rae Malone, and he was delicious. Willow and Hank Steel took a long-needed vacation and cruise; it was a welcome break from all the drama they had endured in the past year. The cul-de-sac was peaceful and quiet, and the old pickup truck parked under the sycamore tree was well hidden. The young woman waited patiently for the evening sun to set so she could enter the home of Judge Patrice Lawson.



Gunshots rang out in the Quarter, and Willow reached for the shotgun under the bar; she forgot Hank had replaced it with a .45 Magnum snub nose because the shotgun was too big for her; she could hear the sirens in the distance and knew the NOPD was on the way; the screams could be heard from the underground club, and one of the merchants shouted, He has a gun! and another shot was heard.
