Bummer Summer

For three troubled big city kids, spending two weeks at a summer camp in Alaska is punishment, not a vacation. Luis Ramirez, 16, has been busted for possessing pot. Gina Marchetti, 15, is flunking out of school. Arun Patel, also 15, has infuriated his father by surrendering lunch money to bullies. Shipped off to camp over their objections, the three teens dislike each other immediately. Sharing a bumpy plane ride in a storm doesn't help. After arriving at Survive and Thrive Wilderness Camp, they try to avoid each other. But as the camp closes for the season, they are flown to a desolate lake for a campout. As the plane leaves, it strikes a log in the water and crashes, killing the pilot. No one knows they are missing. The teens' only hope of surviving is reaching what might be a distant road on a faded map. But first they must learn to live off the land, cross a dangerous river, face down a wolf pack, and confront personal weaknesses. And it has to be done before they starve.
