The accomplishments of the antiaircraft artillery in the defense of Manila Bay proved that the basic principles of employment as taught in the Army are correct. Aircraft cannot destroy AA defenses by bombing from high altitudes. Aviation must be prepared to accept high losses in direct, low-level, concentrated attacks over a long period of time in order to effectively neutralize AA defenses. Corregidor was not properly fortified, armed, nor stocked to withstand the beating received from the enemy's artillery.
