African-American Father and Son Cowboys move to N. C. and both find the loves of their lives. But the Son's love happens to be the white girl next door and his father and her father are not having it. The dead mother reaches through space and time to communicate with both of the cowboys on the matter. The story is a triumph in the face of society's (isms). It also manages to twist and morph the moral compass of the reader while exploring the complicated textures of America's cultural landscape.
