In the late forties the Harlem Hit Parade became the Billboard "R&B" charts. Joe Liggins' song "The Honeydripper" was one of the first R&B chart hits. Sister Rosetta Tharpe had a hit with "Strange Things Happening Every Day", played as one of the first the electric guitar using heavy distortion (she was an example for Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards...). Big Joe Turner was a blues shouter from Kansas known for "My Gal's A Jockey" (according to Doc Pomus "Rock And Roll would have never happened without him." And finally there's Stick McGhee with "Drinkin' Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee, one of the Rhythm And Blues songs that later evaluated to Rock 'N Roll songs.
