Flatt & Scruggs

Bluegrass pioneers Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs met as members of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys in 1946 and left in 1948 to form their own group, the Foggy Mountain Boys, featuring Flatt's distinctive singing and flat picked guitar and Scruggs' highly innovative banjo picking. Flatt & Scruggs soon became America's premier bluegrass band and in 1963 reached # 1 on the Billboard Country Chart with "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" used as the theme for the Beverly Hillbillies television series. This classic album recorded in the mid 1960's features much of the band's classic repertoire including the theme to the hit motion picture, Bonnie & Clyde, otherwise known as Foggy Mountain Breakdown, first recorded in 1949. All selections newly remastered.
