The Brimlow Triptych

In the charming but contention-riven country town of Brimlow, the eccentric artist Godfrey Johansson, haunted by failure and a sense of his own mortality, paints a version of the Last Supper as if through the eyes of Judas. With unerring punctuality the Devil appears by his side, declares himself to be a great defender of Christ, and speaks (it would seem) the truth about all manner of wondrous things.
