Little Willie John was known for his short temper and propensity to abuse alcohol. Little Willie John was an American R&B singer who performed most successful in the mid-fifties. He had a string of R&B hits, including the original version of "Need Your Love So Bad", (later Fleetwood Mac) and his million-seller "Fever" (later Peggy Lee). In The mid-fifties James Brown opened shows for John and even recorded a tribute album. The 'Band' guitarist and songwriter Robbie Robertson, mentioned John in the song "Somewhere Down The Crazy River". Mark Lanegan wrote and recorded "Like Little Willie John" for his 2004 'Bubblegum' album. Little Willie John died in prison (aged 30) and was posthumously inducted into the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' in 1996.
