Beethoven: Symphonies 5 & 6

Recorded 1953, before recording this CD, **Erich Kleiber** conducted the Concertgebouw Orchestra in the by then traditional **Beethoven** cycle in 1950. He was especially applauded for the *'Fifth and Sixth Symphonies'* which, together with the Ninth Symphony, are traditionally the highlights of **Beethoven's** symphonies. In the Fifth Symphony through a rigorous thematic treatment, especially in the first movement, and in the Sixth Symphony through its use of extremely descriptive program music.
