Rock 'n' Roll Ruby: The Complete 1956-1962 Singles Coll. edition

"MR. HOT ROCK"

An exciting singer and guitarist, as well as a talented songwriter, Johnny Carroll was one of those great rockabilly pioneers who never achieved the success and recognition he deserved. Carroll shared band members with his friend Gene Vincent, and learned guitar, or at least was on some level mentored by Elvis Presley's legendary sideman, Scotty Moore. This essential collector's edition presents all of the sensational singles Carroll cut at the peak of his career for different labels, such as Decca, Warner Bros., Duchess, and SunRecords' subsidiary label Phillips International. Highlights include explosive numbers like "Crazy, Crazy Lovin'", "Hot Rock", and the legendary early rock & roll single, "Wild, Wild Women", among many others. In addition, the four songs Carroll performed in the 1957 cult-film Rock Baby, Rock It, have been included as bonus tracks. This is an essential set for rockabilly fans interested in the birth of the genre.

"Carroll personified rockabilly's most potent image, the sexy, half-crazed fool flailing away at a guitar and hollering his guts out."-- Bill Millar
