Our customers say:

Latin-American dance bands such as Xavier Cugats Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra, flourished, while onscreen, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers danced to the sound of Caetano Velosos Carioca. By 1943, bandleader had created what is regarded as the first Afro-Jazz classic, and Cubas Pérez Prado, achieved international success as King of The Mambo. While the late 50s and 60s saw Brazils bossa-nova flourish, providing composers such as A.C. Jobim, and musicians Stan Getz, Sergío Mendes and Charlie Byrd with recordings that populated charts across the world. This compilation is a celebration of all those who created these game-changing sounds and includes tracks by Edmundo Ros, the Trinidad-born bandleader who, for many years, headed Britain's most-prominent Latin band, and whose rendition of Tico Tico proved to be a huge UK seller in 1945.
