Billie Holiday
Eleanora Fagan, better known as Billie Holiday, had been performing professionally since the late 1920s, starting out as a teenager in Harlem. Holiday first toured Europe in 1954 as part of a Leonard Feather package, The Jazz Club U. S. A. Tour. Starting in Stockholm in January and then Germany, Netherlands, Paris and Switzerland. The tour party was Billie Holiday, Buddy DeFranco, Red Norvo, Carl Drinkard, Elaine Leighton, Sonny Clark, Beryl Booker, Jimmy Raney, and Red Mitchell. This is a stunning document of one of America's greatest treasures on her first ever tour of Europe. Billie Holiday received several awards during her lifetime and won 23 posthumous Grammy awards.
